Meet The Team

FOUNDER

Adam is a Queen’s University alumnus from Montréal. He founded QWave in 2019, hoping to foster a sense of connection amongst students who love to create music around campus. Although his time at Queen’s has run its course, he will always be around to support the community and assist in maintaining QWave as a tight-knit community for both amateur and experienced producers alike. He also really likes peanut butter.

CO-DIRECTOR

Tyler is a 5th year mechanical engineering student at Queen's. Inspired by a lifelong passion for music and guitar, he started learning production in Ableton during high school out of an interest in understanding the elements that make people enjoy music. He has since started his own alternative/indie music project, on top of producing songs and mixing shows for local artists out of Kingston. Tyler has previously been the Studio and Outreach Director for QWave, and has greatly enjoyed getting to meet and collaborate with other representatives in the music industry through these roles in addition to Co-President. When he's not producing or playing guitar, Tyler loves to go climbing and running, watch basketball, and beat his housemates at Super Smash Bros.

Hey guys! My name is Alex and I'm in my third year of Health Sciences. Music is super super important to me; I've played piano and produced music on Logic Pro X for many years, and I mainly focus on cloud rap-type beats. Super excited to be a part of QWave again this year :)

I am 5th year life sciences student here at Queen’s. I got into music production at 17 when I started learning FL studio. I love producing hip hop, house, reggaeton, and many more! STUDIO DIRECTOR

Tiago Costa is a 3rd year Biology and Psychology student at Queen’s University. He was brought up in music theory and piano from the age of 3, and was gifted an Ableton account from his father in his early teen years. He then became fully invested in learning how to produce electronic music of all types. He has since branched out into other genres including trap, hyperpop, rock, and trance.

Kate is a 3rd year Health Sciences major with a deep passion for music. She has been playing the piano and guitar since childhood and is currently on a long and slow mission to master the drums. Eager to explore music production, she joined Qwave to connect with like-minded individuals and develop her skills in this dynamic field. Her enthusiasm for music drives her desire to discover new creative avenues through collaboration and production.

MARKETING STAFF

Cameron Whyte is a 2nd year Computing student. He comes from a very musical family as his mother and grandfather have both made music all throughout their lives, and their musical knowledge has played a key part in his passion for music today. In the past few years, he has played around with FL Studio and Ableton, but as a relative beginner, he’s always hoping to learn more from his peers.

FINANCIAL DIRECTOR

After being classically trained for different instruments and being in numerous bands, ranging from classical to jazz to rock, I chose to digress into music production to explore music on both an electronic and acoustic approach. Well, rigorous practice is extremely key for live performances, I found a personal interest in the actual mixing and mastering of audio through software and hardware alike. With my last year of university and second year as a finance direct for Qwave, I want to explore and assist individuals to navigate the music production environment.

OUTREACH DIRECTOR

May is a 5th year Commerce Student, with experience working in the local music scene as well as at a major label. A long time lover of music, she currently produces two radio shows on CFRC 101.9fm that highlight emerging artists and frequently attends concerts of all genres. She joined QWave to further connect and collaborate with producers, artists and industry professionals alike. In addition to all things music, she also loves reading, coffee, baking, and her roommate's cat, Eugene.
